Distance Collective

The Distance Collective is a recreational running club serving the Vancouver and area run community. The goal of the collective is to provide a group of like minded people the opportunity to improve their form, speed and endurance in a collaborative environment. The Distance Collective is proudly supported by Distance Runwear…East and North Vancouver’s best option for run apparel, footwear, nutrition and hydration.

We are a collective of runners; trail, road, long, short, fast, slow but one thing is common to us all…the desire to improve. The Distance Collective is a focused program designed to improve your understanding of form, speed and endurance. Through a variety of work outs you’ll gain a better understanding of your Running Economy (how well you run) and thus improve your form, your speed and your endurance.

2017 Schedule:

Tuesdays-  7pm @ Memorial South Park – Track workout

Plus Monthly Collective Sessions (special club events brought to you by the brands of Distance Runwear) last Thursday of each month.

If you can run for 30 minutes at any pace you can join the Collective.  We are a fun bunch, but we work hard to meet our goals.  Our workouts include track intervals, track drills, hill training, form work and tempo runs.  All runs start with an easy warm up where the whole group stays together for 10-20mins.  Drills are also performed together.  The workouts are done in such a way that runners of different abilities can work together and nobody gets left behind.  We encourage participation in the many great running events our area has to offer, as part of the Distance Collective.

The Collective is coached by Distance Runwear owner Dave Cressman. Dave is the first Athletics Canada Certified Road Running Instructor and Form Coach.

 

 

 

The cost is $80 per year and requires at least a basic BC Athletics membership. ($15.75 for Athlete/Non-Competitive membership). Available here.

Membership includes access to all workouts throughout the year, 10% off at both Distance Runwear locations and invites to The Sessions and more surprises throughout the year.

  • I agree that I am a member of the Distance Collective, and I know that running in and volunteering for organized group runs, social events, and races with this club are potentially hazardous activities, which could cause injury or death. I will not participate in any club organized events, group training runs or social events, unless I am medically able and properly trained, and by my signature, I certify that I am medically able to perform all activities associated with the club and am in good health, and I am properly trained. I assume all risks associated with being a member of this club and participating in club activities which may include: falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, traffic and the conditions of the road, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. I understand that animals and personal music players are not allowed to be used in club organized activities. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of your accepting my membership, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release the Distance Collective, Dave Cressman, all club sponsors, their representatives and successors from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation with the club, even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. I grant permission to all of the foregoing to use my photographs, video recordings or any other record for any legitimate promotional purposes for the club.
